Sleep Studies

A sleep study is a test used to diagnose sleep disorders. If you have a sleep disorder, a sleep study is the first step toward a better night’s sleep.

A sleep study can identify the root causes of what may be disrupting your sleep, including sleep disorders and conditions such as:

  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Restless leg syndrome
  • REM sleep behavior disorder
  • Parasomnia
  • Circadian rhythm disorders

What happens during a sleep study?

During a sleep study, several small electronic sensors are placed to monitor your sleep stages, brain activity, breathing patterns, heart rate, blood oxygen levels and limb and eye movements. The room has video and audio equipment, allowing a sleep technologist to observe and interact with you throughout the night.

Our sleep rooms are designed with comfort in mind, offering:

  • Private accommodations
  • Adjustable electric beds
  • Cable TV
  • Refreshments
  • En-suite bathrooms
  • Sleep study options

At Tanner’s Sleep Centers, you have two testing options to choose from:

  • In-Lab Polysomnography — Conducted in our private rooms with tailored amenities.
  • WatchPAT Home Sleep Study — A convenient and precise home testing option that quickly provides results for informed treatment decisions.

WatchPAT® — Comfortable, accurate sleep testing at home

With WatchPAT, bypass the wires and unfamiliar lab setting by performing your sleep apnea assessment at home. Use a wrist device, a finger probe and a chest sensor while maintaining your usual sleep routine.

Benefits of WatchPAT:

  • Clinically reliable and user-friendly: FDA-cleared for ease of use and patient comfort.

  • Precise measurements for accurate diagnosis: Analyzes seven critical sleep parameters for comprehensive reports.

  • True Sleep Time for improved accuracy: Minimizes diagnostic errors by assessing actual sleep duration.

  • High success rate with minimal setup: Requires only three contact points for simplicity.
