Smoking and Tobacco Policy

Designated smoking areas

To protect our visitors, patients and employees, no tobacco use of any kind — including smoking and smokeless tobacco — is permitted on Tanner’s hospital campuses except in designated smoking areas located at the very edge of each campus. 

Our tobacco policy is enforced by Tanner Security. Please ask a volunteer if you need help locating a designated smoking area.

Nicotine replacement therapy

We encourage visitors to bring nicotine replacement therapies if they are unable to refrain from tobacco use for the duration of their visit with a patient. These therapies can be effective smoking alternatives.

Tanner offers tobacco cessation education and nicotine replacement sources – such as patches – to our patients based on the patient’s needs and any physician’s orders. These resources are excellent smoking alternatives for those looking to quit.
