Laura Barnett joined Physician & APP Recruitment in 2018 after working as a talent acquisition specialist/nurse recruiter for Tanner since 2012.

A Carrollton native who was born at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, Barnett also previously worked at Tanner from 1995-1999 as a ward secretary and nursing technician. After deciding on a career change, she earned her bachelor’s in human resource management from the University of West Georgia and later earned her MBA, also from the University of West Georgia.

Even back then, Barnett knew she would make her way back to Tanner because she loves working in healthcare and being part of the Carrollton community, and her heart “bleeds Tanner green.”

Eric Johnston

Senior Physician & APP Recruiter

Eric Johnston joined Physician Recruitment for Tanner Health in 2004 and has recruited more than 200 physicians for the system to date.

Johnston previously worked as a search consultant with Ericksson Associates, as an account executive with Soliant Health, as a search consultant for Pinnacle Health Group and as a southern regional sales manager for PracticeMatch, a division of Caredata.com.

He earned a bachelor's degree in marketing education from the University of Georgia, where he was a presidential scholar recipient.

Emily Rooks

Physician and APP Recruitment Coordinator

Emily Rooks joined Physician Recruitment in 2025 working as a recruitment coordinator.

Emily is a graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, majoring in Health Care Management. Her previous experience in recruitment comes from the locum tenens industry through Jackson + Coker, LLC, for 4 years before making the switch to join the Tanner family.
