Biography

Dr. O'Connell is an orthopedic specialist with OrthoWest. He earned his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, where he also completed his residency in orthopedic surgery. He also completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Jackson. He served as an associate professor at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, and has served as an assistant team physician at several institutions, including Virginia Commonwealth University and William and Mary College, as well as head team physician at Randolph Macon College, Chesterfield County Public Schools, Mississippi College and Vicksburg High School.
