Opened in 2017, Tanner Medical Center/East Alabama is a 50,000-square-foot critical access hospital offering emergency care, inpatient services, surgery, diagnostic imaging and specialty care in a modern, patient-focused setting.
The hospital features a 24-hour emergency department with eight exam rooms, 15 private inpatient rooms, on-site laboratory and imaging services, a surgical suite, the Tanner Café and a gift shop designed to support patients and visitors during their stay.
Patients also benefit from access to specialty services available through the adjacent Tanner/East Alabama medical office building, including gastroenterology, gynecology, heart care, hematology, oncology, rehabilitation services, sleep medicine and more.
In 2023, David Griffin, MD, FACS, a general surgeon with Carrollton Surgical Group, part of Tanner Medical Group, began performing a variety of surgical procedures at Tanner Medical Center/East Alabama.
In 2024, Randall Pierce, MD, a hematologist and oncologist with Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers, expanded cancer-related services available in Wedowee.
