Whether you need stitches for a sports injury or lifesaving treatment for a heart attack or stroke, our expert emergency teams are here when you need us most.

All doctors that work in our emergency departments are board-certified in emergency medicine. They are supported by highly trained nurses and support professionals dedicated to delivering fast, compassionate care.

What to expect during your visit

Our emergency departments are designed to deliver fast, compassionate and efficient care.

• Registration: A nurse will collect your vital signs and medical history upon arrival.
• Wait times: Patients are seen based on the severity of their illness or injury. Life-threatening and limb-threatening emergencies are treated first.
• Assessment:  An emergency physician will evaluate your condition in a treatment room.
• Tests and procedures: Imaging, lab work and procedures are performed as needed to diagnose and treat your condition.
• Discharge or admission: Patients are discharged with at-home or follow-up care instructions or admitted for additional observation and treatment.

Vistor information 

If you are visiting a patient in the emergency room, please check in at the registration desk. Staff will provide the patient’s room number and visitation information. Patients are limited to two people in the room at a time.

Visiting the emergency department can feel overwhelming for patients and families alike. Tanner Health chaplains are available to provide spiritual care, comfort and emotional support during difficult moments. Speak to a nurse or call hospital extension x9461 to connect with a chaplain.
