During the procedure:

A small amount of gentle suction is used to position the hemorrhoid
A tiny rubber band is placed at its base
No incisions or scalpels are required

Because there are no nerve endings at the base of the hemorrhoid, the procedure is generally painless. Within a few days, the treated hemorrhoid naturally falls away. Most patients do not notice when this happens — only the relief that follows.
