Understanding cardiac rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation, commonly known as cardiac rehab, is a medically supervised exercise and education program designed to assist individuals with heart disease or those recovering from heart attacks or heart surgeries.

Objectives of cardiac rehab

Though cardiac rehab can't change the past, it can positively impact your heart's future. It aims to enhance functional ability, prepare you for daily activities and teach you how to maintain a healthier heart.

The primary objective is to strengthen the heart muscle and instill healthy habits to minimize the risk of future heart issues.

Phases of cardiac rehab

Tanner Heart Care provides two phases of cardiac rehabilitation:

Recovery Phase
This phase involves a medically supervised exercise and education program focused on strengthening your heart and teaching a heart-healthy lifestyle.

Wellness Visits
During this phase, you continue an exercise regimen with regular monitoring by Tanner staff to track your progress.

Request an appointment

A physician’s order is required to schedule cardiac rehab. Your cardiologist does not need to be part of Tanner's medical staff, eliminating the need to travel long distances to Atlanta or Rome.
