Student and Parent Mental Health Resources

Supporting a child’s mental health early can improve academic success, strengthen relationships and help prevent long-term emotional challenges.

Children and teens can experience many of the same mental health concerns as adults, including anxiety, depression, ADHD and trauma-related stress. However, these challenges often appear differently in young people and can affect behavior, school performance and relationships.

At Willowbrooke at Tanner, our behavioral health professionals provide specialized care and student mental health resources designed to support children, adolescents, and families. Through counseling, assessments and school partnerships, we help students develop healthy coping skills and build the confidence they need to thrive at school and in life.

School-based therapists supporting student mental health

One of the most effective ways to support students is by making mental health care available where they spend much of their time — at school. Willowbrooke’s school-based therapy program places licensed master’s-level therapists directly in local schools. These school-based therapists work closely with students, parents, teachers and administrators to identify concerns early and connect students with appropriate care.

School-based therapists help:

  • Identify emotional or behavioral challenges early
  • Provide counseling and mental health support for students
  • Improve coping and problem-solving skills
  • Address barriers to academic success
  • Connect families with additional student and parent mental health resources

This program improves access to care and helps students succeed both academically and socially.

School districts we serve

Willowbrooke school-based therapists partner with several West Georgia school systems, including:

  • Carroll County Schools
  • Carrollton City Schools

If your child attends one of these districts, you may be able to access a school-based counselor or therapist through the school. To connect with a school-based therapist, call Willowbrooke Counseling Center at 770-812-8863 or speak with your child’s school counselor or school administrator.

Getting started with mental health care

Students and families can begin care with a free, confidential mental health screening conducted by a master’s-level clinician. This screening helps determine the most appropriate level of care and connects families with the right mental health resources.

To ensure every patient receives personalized care, all new patients begin with an in-person assessment at Willowbrooke Urgent Care for Mental Health and Substance Use in Villa Rica. No appointment is necessary — simply walk in to get started. Whether your child is experiencing an urgent mental health concern or you are seeking guidance and support, Willowbrooke Urgent Care provides a starting point for care.
