Investing in Our Future

Investing in Our Future

Since 1949, we have invested in facilities, technology and people to improve healthcare accessibility and ensure high-quality care close to home.

Community-based healthcare means delivering coordinated services within the communities where people live, making care more accessible, affordable and responsive to local needs. It is not the same as Medicaid; rather, community healthcare includes a full range of services — from preventive care and primary care to specialty treatment and chronic disease management — available to all members of the community.

At Tanner Health, community healthcare includes expanding rural clinics, building advanced facilities like the Tanner Heart and Vascular Center and partnering with local organizations to address chronic disease management and improve quality of life. Our initiatives reflect the major types of community health services: preventive care, primary care, specialty services, mental health support and community outreach.

We are guided by the six C’s of care — compassion, competence, communication, courage, commitment and collaboration — principles that shape our culture and strengthen healthcare quality improvement across our system. Community health workers support this mission by connecting patients to services, providing education, coordinating care, advocating for patient needs and supporting prevention efforts that enhance healthcare accessibility.

Tanner Health has earned national recognition for quality and financial strength, including multiple placements among the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems. These achievements reflect our continued focus on healthcare quality improvement and responsible stewardship, allowing us to reinvest in expanded services and sustainable community healthcare for generations to come.

Tanner is also a significant economic engine for the region – employing more than 3,350 people and – according to the most recent annual Economic Impact Report from the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) – contributing more than $946.7 million in revenues to local economies and creating 8,861 full-time jobs.

This level of community support is provided throughout west Georgia without the assistance of taxpayer dollars or subsidies.

Simply put, this level of success does not happen by accident. Tanner Health takes pride in its ability to create a work environment that attracts – and retains – high-performing employees and leaders who share a deep commitment to serving patients and fulfilling our charitable, not-for-profit mission.

To do that, we must continue to invest in the health of our system through expanded services, new facilities and technology, and competitive compensation and benefits for our people. We view this as an investment in our organization’s future and its ability to continue making an impact on the health of our communities.

On behalf of Tanner Health’s independent Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Daniel Jackson, Chairman
